Try it out! – autocomplete og spellcheck
Sep0
We want to help our users have the best experience possible when doing a search.
While you type you search query you will see different suggestions for queries that match the termes you are writing in the search field as well as a spellcheck that corrects your spelling.

Try to write a search term and miss-spell the word and see the autocomplete and spellcheck appear under the search field.
You can try it on the library websites of Copenhagen or Aarhus municipalities:
København: http://kkb.demo.gnit.dk
Århus: http://aakb.demo.gnit.dk
NB:
- Avoid using ”and”, “or” and “else” in your search query as it will return 0 results.
- Use capital letters in names and titles and you will see a more precise searchresult.
We are working to correct the mentioned problems!
ding.TING is released in a closed beta
Sep0
Today we release a closed beta of ding.TING.
We have finished two websites based on the ding.TING open source project where you can try the functionalities that have been completed:
The libraries of the Aarhus Municipality: http://aakb.demo.gnit.dk
Copenhagen Libraries: http://kkb.demo.gnit.dk
The websites are not yet ready to be released to the general public as ding.TING is as yet not fully completed or rested, but it will give you a good idea of the possibilities in the new concept. At this time ding.TING is a simpe version with a limited amount of content and with some of the planned functionalities, such as search and material- and collection views in an unfinished state..
During september existing functionalities will be optimized and new added on a day to day basis. Starting october we are planning several tests, with a limited amount of test-users, of the core functionalities, especially concerning the library system, usability, performance etc. to reveal errors I løbet af september vil eksisterende funktionalitet blive optimeret og nye løbende tilføjet og fra starten af oktober planlægger vi et testforløb, med et begrænset antal testbrugere, af kernefunktionalitet, der især involverer bibliotekssystemet, brugervenlighed, performance mv., for at afsløre fejl og inexpediencies.
What to expect of the new websites when they are completed
With ding.TING the end-users have the focus and web are concentrating on their needs and optimizing their experience as the seek information, inspiration or just the hottest new book-to-read.
You will no longer experience the seperation of the website and OPAC that is so typical for library websites. On the contrary you will be able to include materials or materialcollections in your posts and place reviews to enrich for example a book, thereby creating relations between different types of information on the site.
Generally there is a great focus on relations between the the types of information to make the context become clear to the users.
Enjoy the ding.TING! ![]()

So ein Ding müßen wir auch haben…
Apr0
We have finally come up with a name for out project to develop a Drup Drupal website for the Public Libraries of Copenhagen and the Public Libraries of Århus, that are the first proofs of concept for the TING concept (Danish).
We have chosen the name “Ding” which is a composite of “Ting” and “Drupal”.
We still haven’t changed the name in the addresses of our code-repository, but as soon as we have they will be posted here on ding.gnit.dk for all interested parties. Later we will attempt to describe the concept and composition of the site so that other libraries that wish to benefin from our work and experiences can copy the entire site or parts thereof for their own projects.
We hope ding will become the start of a strong open source community based arround the TING concept to the mutual benefit of the danish public libraries and other TING partners.
